In fall out New Vegas when you turn hardcore mode on and off then back on again in settings will you still rec?

When i went to settings i wanted to change difficulty to hard, then i saw the hardcore mode i switched off, then on again just wanted to see if it was possible to change it. then went back to game, it starting saving. Then i saw everything was back to zero h20 food sleep, does that mean i will not receive the prize and the achievement. or i will and i just found out a cheat.
