What type of bird is this?

Assuming you're in the US, it's a common city pigeon, sometimes called a feral pigeon. Most city pigeons are descended from domestic pigeons, which themselves were descended from rock pigeons. They have an amazing range of variation in plumage coloration, from all white to all dark and most things in between.
